Planet Hearwell Zone

BaBaDa: targets auditory decoding skills, auditory memory skills, temporal processing, auditory attention, and overall listening skills. BaBaDa also reinforces sound to letter recognition, as opposed to letter to sound recognition that is typically learned. This strengthens the ability to hear the slight differences between letter sounds, anD to recognize them in rapid succession, as well as to recall the the sequence and order.
A knowledge of the alphabet is helpful with this game, however BaBaDa can help young child learn the sound letter connection. For adults and individuals wearing hearing aids, this game has been shown to improve auditory discrimination skills through the use of hearing aids.

Academically: these skills are important building blocks for phonological awareness, reading, and spelling.

Sound Seekers

Targets auditory decoding skills, auditory memory skills, auditory sequencing and phonemic awareness, auditory attention and overall listening skills.

Sound Seekers requires the player to recognize sounds within words, and identify where in the word they hear it (beginning, end, middle).

Many children can easily identify which sound they hear when it is presented by itself, but often have difficulty identifying sounds when they are blended with other sounds within a word.

For older children and adults, the section of the game using nonsense words (or words from Eardon's language) can be challenging and beneficial in strengthening auditory discrimination skills.

Academically: these skills are important building blocks for phonological awareness, reading, and spelling.
